SUBMISSIONS

Submission of plays or other theatrical productions to BCP must
be requested on a special form. Rules for submission are as follows:

Production Submission Procedures

Purpose: To develop a procedure for play selection that encourages potential directors to participate in Boquete Community Player (BCP) productions and encourages them in their efforts.
 
  1. All production proposals should be submitted to the BCP board a minimum of 90 days in advance of the projected opening date. The proposal should be submitted by email using the form provided on this website.
  2. The President or Vice President will acknowledge receipt upon receiving the submission and will forward it to all members of the board for review prior to the board meeting.
  3. At least two people on the board will read the script, with the following criteria in mind:
      • Difficulty to produce
      • Cost to BCP
      • Length of production (in hours & minutes)
      • Entertainment potential/appeal
      • Appropriateness for community/potential to offend
      • Potential for involvement (number of people)
  4. The Board will meet at the direction of the president or vice president (either electronically or in person) to discuss the proposal. Any questions will be forwarded to the prospective director and feedback will be considered by the board.
  5. A prospective Director may request or be requested by the Board to “pitch” the play in person (in addition to submitting the required forms), as the situation warrants.
  6. When all facts are received and the Director’s position is understood, the vote will be taken, with a simple majority signifying approval. Board members who are out of the country may vote electronically.
  7. The Board may choose to amend portions of the production plan. In that event, the Director will be informed of the conditions under which the play is approved. Every effort will be made to reach consensus on the production plan between the Board and the prospective director. The production will not go forward if agreement cannot be reached.
  8. The following must be submitted, in formats noted:
      • Production Submission form (electronically and in print)
      • One copy of the play (in print), which will be returned
